Entering into a new season is a special time, a sacred transition which can be very beautiful if we let it. We are now moving towards Autumn and with that our mindset also changes along with our expectations of our physical surroundings.

This is a good time to consider what is changing in you physically and how does that affect you spiritually. I like to write a little ritual or ceremony which marks the occasion, in this way every month becomes special.

Here is my ceremony for August:

Time - Evening of the New Moon on 12th August 2026

Items required - Gold candle, bowl of water, Bread/Fruit.

Ceremony -

1) Take 3 deep breaths and sink your roots deep into the earth.

2) Light the candle and say words such as:

“I welcome the light of the waning sun and the glow of the rising moon. I honour the harvest of the earth and within myself.”

3) Dip 3 finger into the bowl of water and flick around the room and dab onto wrists and forehead. Imagine moonlight washing over you and taking away the Chaff.

4) Take a bite of the bread and fruit, leaving some as on offering on the alter. Give thanks for the work of the harvest and all those who work so hard physically and spiritually.

5) Blow out the candle and release the energy into the universe. Leave the bread and fruit outside as an offering.
